introvert energy

The idea of consistent energy is like a white unicorn for most introverts.

We’ve heard of it. We’ve fantasized about. We might have even caught a glimpse of it in other people. But somehow consistent energy evades us.

This is especially frustrating because we know what vitality feels like. When we’re riding the high tides of our energy cycles, life is so much easier. We are sharper, and more “on it”. Work goes more smoothly, and socializing is far less abrasive.

But the crash inevitably comes. Often it feels like depletion is just a part of life. We think it’s normal for the dips to outnumber the peaks on our energy meter. Just think of how you feel at lunchtime, at the end of a workday, and after any social event, and you’ll know what I mean.

Consistent energy levels are possible for introverts. One of the most essential elements for cultivating this kind of energy is completely counterintuitive.

The ebb and flow of energy

Remember how I talked about high tides in our energy cycles earlier? We live in a high tide kind of culture. We’re expected to always be up and on and bursting with endless energy for pointless busyness.

The belief that our energy can and should always manifest in a Richard Simmons-like way is what causes drastic ups and downs in our energy.

If we could honor the fact that our energy, our relationships, our work, and our life are cyclical in nature, our energy levels would naturally stabilize.

The idea that we should always be “seizing the day” and “pushing through” is ridiculous. We have seasons for a reason. I realized this after going years without experiencing an autumn.

The need for seasons

This September will be my first fall in Canada since 2012. Last autumn I was in Europe. The one before that, I was in Mexico.

Me in a vineyard in France last fall.

Though an eternal summer of travel sounds amazing (and it was much of the time), I missed the collective shift in mentality and energy that occurs at every change of season, particularly autumn.

I longed for that boost of motivation and productivity I felt each fall. I even began to recognize the value in winter. I hate the cold, but I love the creativity and intense focus I can cultivate during the colder months. A little hibernation is good for the mind.

A new season for introverts

I guess my subconscious knew the value of cycles and seasons before I did, because I named my website “Introvert Spring” back in 2013 when it was just a twinkle in my innie eye.

It really is a new season for introverts. We are moving out of the revolutionary mode where we fought to be heard and understood, and we are blooming into our own innate beauty.

We know that life can be different. It is our turn to experience the fullness of our own lives on our own terms. Richard Simmons is not invited.

A new beginning for me

This fall, and actually this day in particular, marks the beginning of a new and exciting cycle for me. After years of working in blissful isolation, I am allowing new collaborations and partnerships to unfold.

Today, registration for my course Advanced Energy Healing For The Highly Sensitive Introvert officially opens. This is the first time I’ve created an entire course in collaboration with another expert.

Making the course has been a truly beautiful and energizing experience. I’m so excited to share it with you.

My new home

There’s another reason why this day is so special to me. Today, is my first day living in my new home. It’s a waterfront suite that I’m renting for the next 9 months. That might not sound like a long time to you, but it’s the longest I will have lived in the same home in almost seven years!

Here is my view as I write:

I’m looking forward to enjoying this view, while connecting with you, for many more moons. 😉

Lots of love,
