quote kahlil gibran

“But let there be spaces in your togetherness.” ~ Kahlil Gibran

What wiser words of wisdom for the introverted couple could there be? Or for any couple, for that matter.  There is so much pressure to “become one” with your significant other these days.  It’s no wonder so many relationships fail.  People are eager to come undone after being so tightly tethered to their one and only.

Many introverts would rather remain single than risk suffocation in a tightly tied entanglement.  We introverts like our space, thank you very much.

But what Kahlil Gibran artfully describes in the above excerpt from The Prophet sounds delicious. In this kind of partnership, there is joy, and sharing, and dancing.  Yet there is also sea between your souls,  and time alone between your twirls.  Such a relationship would be a welcome relief for many introverts.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve never been much for bondage.  😉
