Happy Sunday innie friend!
Besides the years when I was Morman and had to go to church for three hours everySunday, this has always been my favorite day of the week.
For introverts, this is a great day to enjoy some of our favorite solo activities, such as reading, reflecting, and generally moving at a slower pace.
Lazy Sundays also provide ample opportunity to reconnect to our introverted intuition. One of the greatest advantages of being an introvert is that our love of solitude and introspection allows us to be more in tune with our intuition.
Those quiet whisperings, and ‘gut feelings’ that serve as an inner compass for our life can’t be heard amidst the hustle and bustle of day to day life. We need to slow down, get quiet, and actually listen.
This is easier said than done in a society that loves constant activity and entertainment. So, in case you’re feeling disconnected from your innie intuition, here are some tips to help you reconnect.
Create a morning ritual
Rituals, which are actions performed in a prescribed order, are a powerful way to tap into your inner guidance system. The reason why rituals are so effective is because your mind instantly associates the actions with a certain state of mind.
For example, a ritual of drinking peppermint tea in solitude every morning creates a sense of peace and clarity. The more you partake in your morning tea ritual, the easier it is for your mind to shift into that state of calm the moment you sit down with your tea.
Other morning rituals to consider:
- writing affirmations
- 5-10 mins. of meditation
- stretching
- journalling
- going for a walk
- listening to calming music
Ignore popular opinion
If you really want to get in tune with your intuition, one of the fastest ways to do so is to get really good at ignoring other people’s opinions.
There are a lot of people out there who just love telling you how you ‘should’ live your life. They want you to conform. They NEED you to fit into their definition of normal so that they can feel safe and comfortable.
Following your inner compass is not normal by most people’s standards. You will do things that seem illogical. You might be deemed strange or foolish. If this happens, know that you are probably on the right track.
Make it a priority
I know that it can be really tempting to toss aside inner work as we tick the boxes on our ever growing to-do lists. But the honest to goodness truth is that when we get in touch with our introverted intuition, our to-do list shrinks.
We stop spinning our wheels and wasting time on tasks that don’t matter. We make fewer wrong turns because we are guided by our inner navigation system.
How do you reconnect to your innie intuition? I look forward to hearing from you!
Love,
so good to run into your blog again, I have been off line for a while…being an INFJ I am prone to being a hermit, in a good way…
Stephen
Happy to have you back, Stephen. 🙂
I think i love you
You look very well in the picture
“Following your inner compass is not normal by most people’s standards. You will do things that seem illogical. You might be deemed strange or foolish. If this happens, know that you are probably on the right track.”
This really resonated with me,you have reassured my inner belief witg those words. Thank you Michaela.
I’m happy it resonated with you, Lu. Stay true to your inner compass no matter what. 🙂
I do not know how i connect to my innie intuition. All I know is that sometimes when I think about something ideas, usually good ones, just pop into my mind.
It sounds like you remain connected to your innie intuition on a regular basis, Adam. 🙂
“For example, a ritual of drinking peppermint tea in solitude every morning creates a sense of peace and clarity.”
Creepy, because I just finished drinking a cup of peppermint tea. I drink it almost every morning, the scent wakes me up. 🙂 My routine is to meditate for 5-10 minutes, then I do the Yoga “Sun Salutation” routine, and 40 crunches and bicycles (I alternate every 10 crunches) because I’m trying to get abs. I admit this routine is very important! Also writing some poetry or just waiting a bit before I get up from my bed to take in the moment, and be grateful for, you know…life.
I’m still learning, because I’m also a pisces and astrology says we are also intuitive, but the way people talk about it, I thought it meant psychic (knowing things about other people.) What exactly is intuition btw? Anyway I’m still learning. Thanks for this post 🙂
