Introvert tired

This is one of the most frustrating aspects of being an introvert. Oftentimes, you want to do so much more than your energy allows. Tiredness becomes your default state as you struggle with limited introvert energy and a constant war with overwhelm. Then you start to feel bad about yourself, as you compare yourself to busybody extroverts who are constantly seizing the day.

But, of course, there are times when you’re really on it. You hit the peak of your introvert energy cycle and your productivity levels soar. This can feel amazing, until you hit that inevitable wall and you suddenly feel tired as hell. The most frustrating part is that this dip in energy can really mess up your plans.

I was going to do so much, and then I sat down

Maybe you wake up in the morning thinking, I’m gonna ace this day!!! You have all these grand plans to get important sh*t done. Unfortunately, your mind and body have other plans for you. That’s exactly what happened to me today.

If you’re a subscriber to my mailing list (join here), you know that it’s been a busy couple of weeks for me. And yet, yesterday, when the dust was still settling, I astonished myself by having a highly productive day.

I did all the things!

I wrote an email to my subscribers, went to the gym, bought groceries, and got organized for the week. I had an A+ day and I was all jazzed up to make Monday just as productive. I had plans—BIG plans for today.

And then I got out of bed.

As soon as I started my morning routine, my body and mind were like, NOPE.

The question to ask when you feel tired to the bone

Whenever I feel my whole being putting the breaks on, I ask myself this question: What do I REALLY need today?

Not ‘what do I think I should need’. But what does my heart, mind, and soul really need. Often the answer to that question throws a wrench in my plans. Here’s another key thing that sensitive introverts like me need to remember:

Sometimes tired is just tired. But other times, there is a deeper emotional component to our exhaustion. Since it’s my job to look inward and stay connected to my intuition, I’ve gotten pretty skilled at pinpointing the source of the heavy feeling.

And, yeah, sometimes it’s from eating too many tacos. But today, I knew there was an emotional aspect to my body’s sluggishness. So, here’s what I did.

What introverts can do to feel less tired

I know that for introverts, especially, it’s essential that we listen to the subtle messages from our soul. So, I set aside my grand plans and I listened to what my heart was trying to tell me for a moment. I felt its sadness and made no effort to fix, distract, or judge.

Then I did some EFT tapping to release the emotions. Which brings me to where I am now, writing this lil’ snippet of insight to you.

An important message from your soul

Tiredness is a primary way that your heart and soul communicates with you. Do you know what it’s trying to tell you?

As you go about your week, I hope you remember that sometimes acing the day means staying still and having a long overdue conversation with your soul.

Because I’m sure you don’t need any more seriousness on a Monday, I’ll leave you with this light-hearted article that I wrote a while ago:
