I’m an INFJ, and as long as I can remember, rain was always a source of inspiration for me. It makes me feel calm, relaxed, and happy. It turns out that I’m not the only INFJ whoΒ feels this way.
There are many reasons why our INFJ personality is drawn to rain. I think that itβs because it evokes a sense of peacefulness in us. Donβt get me wrong, not all INFJs like the rain. Some prefer the bright sunny day more than the misty rainy night.
The other day my friend asked me: βHow can you love the rain? Itβs so dark and sad. You canβt go anywhere when it fallsβ. My answer was that itβs perfectly aligned with who I am. In fact, this question inspired me to write this article and to explain this phenomenon.
What rain does to the brain
According to Orfeu Buxton, a professor of biobehavioral health at Pennsylvania State University, the sound of rain is βin tuneβ with our senses. Buxton stated that if the rain could speak, it would sound something like this: βDon’t worry, don’t worry, don’t worry.” Okay, maybe not so many times, since it sounds a little creepy.
Because our INFJ mind doesnβt appreciate loud noise by default, rain is natureβs meditation. It heightens our senses with its healing effect. Like the Formula One vehicle, our mind needs to go into the box for repairs every now and again. Rain is our repair crew.
Besides the relaxing sensation, rain can also awaken deep, emotional thoughts. Nostalgia, deep thinking, memories, and even sadness, can all be fuelled by the soothing sound of drops from the sky.
3 ways that rain can be an inspiration for INFJs
Observing the stillness in the air. Taking a closer look at the raindrops in a free-fall is scientifically proven to put your mind at ease. If you are overwhelmed, or stressed, you can always count on the rain to help you to put your INFJ brain into a lower gear.
Admiring the raindrops on the window. There is something magical about raindrops slowly falling down the window glass. This is a perfect opportunity for our INFJ imagination to kick in. Letting your mind wander off into some distant, fairytale, far away land is natureβs wonderful gift for our INFJ personality.
Contemplating gray mystical skies. One look up atΒ the rainy sky is enough for our creativity shockwaves to explode. The sound of water acts as an energy drink, giving us the power-up we need to be more creative. Okay, I admit, I felt like a Power Ranger writing this. βΊ
The common ground that we as INFJs share regardingΒ the rain is the feeling of safety and peace. We are in our own element during rainy days. Our inspiration and happiness are multiplied just by seeing the murky skies above us. Our creativity thrives in the wake of a storm.
While there is nothing bad about loving the sunny weather, itβs in the misty, cloudy moments that we thrive. Being the rare INFJ butterflies we are, the rain is like our dance floor. We donβt like the spotlight, so we think of the cover of the clouds as our stage. We do our Moonwalk while everyone else waits for the sun.
A great novelist Vivian Greene once said:
βLife isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass… It’s about learning to dance in the rain.β
Are you having your dance of thoughts and dreams in the rain? βΊ
Thoughts?
Do you like the rain as much as I do? Does it motivate you, or make you sad? Or maybe happy beyond measure? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comment section bellow! βΊ
Much love,
Marko

Thanks for yet another great article, my friend π – I’ve also always loved rain (and lightning and thunderstorms, as well), so what you wrote makes perfect sense to me. I think a rainy day or evening also legitimizes our preference for solitude and an inward focus, plus it just feels cozier to be inside, listening to the soothing sounds of the rain and/or storm outside…
You are most welcome my friend! Thank you so much for your kind words. π I couldn’t agree more with your wonderful rain description, and the atmosphere it brings. π
Just the sammee feelings here about RAIN…Wonderful post..Perfect Wavelength as mine??
It’s just the rain evokes so many emotions and calms me down at the same time, that’s the beauty of it and thank you so much for explaining it so beautifully, reading it made my eyes a bit misty too, I feel good now.
Thanks
Lovved the Post on RAIN…Same feel here…A perfect Wavelength with mine???
Thanks so much Priya! I’m glad you like the article, and that you feel the same about the rain. π
Hi! Marko I live in a hot place in India…so after rain there co
mes a verry wonderful smell of earth..its sooo good and relaxing..you can also connect the tempo of rainfall to different music..heavy rain with thunder its hard rock…soft gentle rainfall is country music…steady downpour is rock..and u can go on and on…Rain just soothes your Soul??
Ummm….ok, spooky. I could have written this about me. Pretty spooky when you have been so alone for so long that there is at least one person in this vast universe that that understands and feels the same. Wonderful, wonderful as well.
You are not alone Michellelauree, and thank you for your words. π
The German people have a saying, ” Ich geho’rt (gehurt) an. I belong to.
The weather plays a major role in my psyce. Storm clouds seem like large warships crossing the sky conquering distance. Lightning reminds me of God’s Awesome Power and my Protection. Rain represents the feeling ‘I belong to’. And my magical solitude I am only able to share with those who understand my world. Hope this makes sense π
Hey Marko!! I agree even as an INTJ I love the rain I like it best when it falls on a metal roof, it just has that pitch to it that’s cool to listen to and it drowns out all that background noise. I like splashing in mud puddles too, I remember back when I was a kid, the street drain would fill up with a summer rain and I’d go sit in it, because I didn’t have a pool and bring my toy shark and boats to play in it. Thinking back now that was probably dangerous, bit it was sooo much fun!! I love the water too, maybe that’s why I like the rain so much too. Thank you for bringing back some fond memories for me. π
You are most welcome James! π I’m happy to hear that reading my article brought you back those amazing, dear memories you cherish so much. π
Hi Marco! This post really resonated with me. Many times I’ll stand on the front porch and watch Summer storms roll in, and be enthralled by the clouds, the wind, the trees, everything.
One time, remnants of a hurricane blew through our area, a very rare occasion in northern Indiana! I will never forget the erratic swaying of the trees. The rain fell in a swirling mist that fell softly and sweetly …at first! It was pure bliss. So glad you and others understand! Thank you!
Hi Kay! I’m glad the article resonated with you. π Wow, that must have been a great feeling observing the remnants of a hurricane!
Thank you for sharing this event you experienced. π You are most welcome!
I read this article and it was like they were my words on the page. Rain make me feel at home, nostalgic and a sense of peace. It quiets my mind and rejuvenates me. Thank you so much for the article.
You are most welcome Kedwards! π Thank you for your kind words, and I’m happy to hear that the article evoked such peaceful emotions in you. π
I love the rain for all of the reasons stated above. I also love a good white, windy snow storm where there is no possibility of going out. Both make me feel safe and sheltered. In a related way I love the darkness of winter for the same reasons.
That’s great to hear Chris! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and I can completely relate with you. π
Love love love this! This article is everything that I am right now! I feel safest and free-est on rainy days, or even during gentle thunder storms. I grew up feeling depressed on sunnier days, especially during hot, humid summer seasons. I think this is why both Spring and Autumn are my favorite seasons, especially Autumn. Thank you! Once again, y’all nailed me perfectly!
Thank you so much for your lovely words Catrise! I’m so glad to hear the the article resonated with you, and that you also love the rain. π I agree, Autumn is my favourite season too! You are most welcome! π
Loved this one Marko, beautiful message, beautiful writing!
Thank you so much Cynthia! I’m so happy to hear that you liked the article, the message it brings, as well as the writing. π
Couldn’t agree more! I love the rain, and find that my creativity goes through the roof on beautiful stormy nights. Makes me wish it was grey and rainy right now π
Glad you agree Jen, and that your creativity blossoms during the stormy nights, it’s the same with me. π The weather was just like that today where I currently am. π
Here are my thoughts on this subject.
Your likes and dislikes also must take into consideration experience and thus many INFJ’s do not like the same things. They may be inclined to like similar things based on thought patterns but thought patterns only make up a portion of our decisions making process.
I would be more inclined to assert that INFJ’s are drawn to the sublime nature of rain based on the feelings the sublime invokes, but the subject matter itself is inconsequential.
We must dig deeper into the Psyche of the personality types and not let the fact that we all have the same thought patterns sway us into thinking that we all are alike. In my personal opinion like and dislikes should be avoided when addressing personality types simply for this reason. Hitler and Gandhi were both INFJ’s and both believed that they were saving humanity. They shared the same thought patterns but ended up with very different results because they did not share the same experiences in life.
Our personality type is only a portion of who we are as individuals. It does not define our character, and thus I assert that you can argue that not all people that like rain are INFJ’s and not all INFJ’s like rain. If that is the case then what is the significance of any of us liking or disliking similar things? There is no pattern based on the specific criteria of like or dislike that would be relevant, or accurate as far as personality types go.
The spectrum of character within the same personality types is far and wide. It is only our thought patterns that make us similar, but or experiences make us completely different. Our experiences will define what we find sublime, and the subject matter will be unique to each of us. For some INFJ’s it may religion and others may find it in animals, or weather patterns.
I am a living example that not all INFJ’s like rain. I am in awe of storms and find them sublime, but I do not like rain, or being out in it. My experience is that I grew up in it, and I hated being damp all the time and having to clean up after it. I also have low thyroid and rain usually comes with cold weather which also influenced me to not like it. So just being INFJ is not enough to say that all INFJ’s like rain. Our experiences have a huge effect on what we like and dislike. Because of these reasons I love the sunshine and the beach. Feeling the sun warmth on my skin, and everything that goes along with it.
These are just my thoughts from studying the psychology behind personality types for the past thirty years as a hobby. I’m no psychologist and I could be completely wrong. I just like to provoke deeper thought and research on the subject so thanks for contributing to the conversation Marko!
Thanks so much for sharing your insight on this! Of course, it’s perfectly understandable that not all INFJs like the rain as I also noted in the article itself. We share the same personality, but we are all unique in our own way, thus not all INFJs like the rain, sun, and vice versa. π
I love the rain but I agree with you that our experiences can make us totally different from each other as INFJ’s. I find it more interesting to try to figure out what, given our differences, DOES make us similar. There is no scientific evidence that all or even most INFJ’s like the rain. Personally I love it because it makes me feel good, but how much of that is because I’ve been a Californian for 50 years now, and how much is because I’m an INFJ, I can’t say. California has had so many drought years since I’ve been here that any rain is always very welcome. Especially for people who are caretakers of rain-loving species like redwood trees, as I am. When we bought this house we entered into the sacred trust of being redwood owners, and I take the honor very seriously.
π
Yes, I couldn’t agree more! Fabulous timing for this article as it’s pouring here today and my house mate said “what a crappy day!” I replied that I live this kind of weather! Even getting wet is fine, and if there’s thunder and lightning, even better!
Thank you Deb! Glad you like this kind of weather too. π For me, what you described is pure joy and a source of inspiration. Add thunder and lighting to the mix, and like you said, it gets even better! π
As a proud INFJ, I am so blessed to live in Seattle! West WA is often called Wet WA, and I am so thankful to be living here.. Most of the people I know hate the rain, and wonder at my immense appreciation for it. Good article [:
Thanks Angelina! π I heard many good things about Seattle, and one if them is that it rains a lot, so it’s by default a must visit place for me one day. π
Hi Marko. I’ll make this quick. I’ve always loved the rain. It’s too many sunny days that bum me out. I have rain apps on my phone and my tablet. I have to use it to soothe myself at times and it helps me fall asleep. Thanks for the article. As usual I thought I was the only ‘weirdo’.
Thanks Erika! I’m glad to hear you love the rain too. π Don’t worry, you are not a “weirdo” for loving the rain and enjoying in it. π
Every since I was a child. Growing up both in the city and on our farm was an amazing opportunity. the farm house had an attached green house with a corrugated fiber glass roof. I had a bed out there, they put it out there just for me.the reason the did is because I would go out there when I was little and they would find me there in the morning with my pillow and a blanket fast asleep. It was so peaceful, surrounded by all the plants. We had rain barrels at each corner of the house and right where the head of my bed was, outside the window was a rain barrel. Loved the rain at night, first, you could here it coming through the tress and smell it, the sound of the rain coming was in itself so peaceful. Then the sound of the rain falling on the corrugated roof and water running into the barrel, the best nights sleep ever. I could lay there and let my mind wonder, it’s like the sounds of the rain made the muse of my young mind even easier. I have always loved it, especially at nights just something so very peaceful about it. Now, it reminds of those nights on the farm, the sounds of a gentle steady rain falling on that roof, the sounds of the rain water running into the barrel, the sounds of the rain falling in the tress and the fresh clean sent in the air. Then when the rain stopped, especially if it was a moon lit night and the tree fogs and katydids started in with there night song, so very beautiful. Wonderful memories; another thing I love to do, swim at night, if it’s raining, even better.
Thank you so much for sharing this lovely story Moshe! π While I was reading it, I felt an genuine peace and relief, because you described it so wonderfully. I am happy that the rain brings back these treasured memories to you, and this is another marvelous effect it has, it brings back those memories we cherish so much. π
I’m an INFJ and I’ve always loved the rain. Everywhere I’ve ever specifically chosen to live was coastal and rainy. People are confused by why I like these places so much but I think it makes sense. Also, I grew up in a place where we get 90% of our rain in the spring so rain always makes me feel hopeful and optimistic like I do every spring when the long winter is finally over.
I’m happy to hear that you love the rain too, and that it has such wonderful effect on you Rhi. π Especially that it makes you feel hopeful and optimistic, since these are really inspiring emotions. π
Ohwow I agree so much with this. I’ve always loved rain (prefferably along with as little wind as possible).
And I’ve always felt very close to it. Being out walking in misty slow falling rain and felt a kind of oneness with it, like it has been a reflection of my inner self. It has felt very close to who I am and I’ve always found a great comfort in it.
Not to mention my love of rain sound apps.
That’s great that you love the rain too Miri, and that you can relate with the article! π
I couldn’t agree more with what you said here about walking in a misty rain, and feeling completely at ease. I also have several rain apps that can relax me in an instant. π
My mother used to notice even when I was in the younger grades in grammar school how much I loved the rain. All the other kids were glum at the sight of it, but I loved to see it. Waiting for the school bus in the rain in my little raincoat, watching the water either streaming or trickling down the windows as we rode to school, the sound of the puddles as we splashed through them, even the sound of the windshield wipers! – all good.
Of course, the lights were turned on in the classroom on rainy days, and looking out from under that pool of fluorescence to the grayness outside made me feel as if I were witnessing a world that had suddenly turned mysterious and intriguing, all the while remaining safe and cozy.
One of my best memories in college was running around the campus on an absolutely pouring day with a good friend, a real kindred spirit. I’ve sometimes wondered about her type – an INTP? Anyway, we spent about an hour getting pelted by rain, soaked to the skin, just drenched, running through puddles. If you know the movie The Rainmaker with Burt Lancaster, the joy when the rain finally comes – it was joyful like that.
Other students were calling out to us from within the dorms or from car windows, laughing, but in a friendly way, marveling at how crazy we seemed, and we tried to get them to join in the fun, but they, doubtless saner, did not join in our fun. Absolutely drenched, my friend and I finally came inside, happy as two wet dogs who had just clambered out of a stream. What a great memory – thanks for jogging it, Marko, with your post.
Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful, lovely memories Pensieve! π I am deeply honored and humbled that I had the chance to read what you wrote here, thank you. I’m glad that my article made you remember those happy, cheerful times, alongside the rain. π
Oh..it’s absolutely true, Marko π I also love the rain ! Because it’s just so refreshing and harmonious… and for me as well, it’s especially awesome and cozy to be inside, when it’s raining during night time. And on rainy days, I won’t feel so bad about staying at home for the entire day. ..
But at the same time, I will get usually quite depressed with simply clouded days without rain, and I’ll also become sad, when it rains for several days in a row….. Because then I’ll get the feeling, as if the world has completely lost its brightness…
That’s great to hear Martin! Glad you agree. π I couldn’t agree more with you as well. Reading a good book and having a warm tea or coffee, while the rain slowly falls outside and showing itself on the window is one of my greatest pleasures in life. π But also, the sun has it’s many wonderful benefits too like you said. π
Thank you for sharing this, Marko. Living in the Vancouver area, I am no stranger to rain. I love its gentle kiss on my cheek as I walk my dog, the fresh scrubbed smell of the air, and the tap-tapping of the drops as they spatter against hard surfaces. While others express their gloom while counting the number of days without abundant sunshine, I embrace it one day at a time knowing that Mother Earth and all that grows from it are being nourished. The overcast skies offer a sense of enclosure – the perfect venue for introspection.
You are most welcome Haddy. π This is such a wonderful description of your enjoyment in the rain, and I deeply thank you for sharing it. π Oh and I love Vancouver! It’s one of my must visit places. π
Love this article. Thank you for once again helping me feel like I’m not alone in my strange mind, in what feels like an alien world sometimes! Love the rain and the peaceful sound of a gentle rain. It is like the earth is taking a rest and a drink of refreshing water… It all seems so mystical somehow and it does lend itself to introspection, dreaming and taking a rest myself…. I used to stand on the porch during a rain or outside under a tree if it wasn’t heavy or lightning. I also love the wind just before a storm and the sounds during the storm.
However, I do not like getting wet with my clothes on, especially if it is cold at all. I think due to my hypersensitivity and the feeling of the wet clothes on my body, yuck, lol.
Also I don’t like more than one day of rain as I start to get very tired and depressed feeling. It seems I need sunlight for energy… solar powered…lol!
Thank you so much for being so thoughtful, insightful and taking the time to write these articles, I just love them!
You are most welcome Shara! I’m glad you like the article, and you are definitely not alone. π Thank you for sharing this lovely emotions the rain awakens in you. Also, thank you so much for your kind, heart-felt words, really, they mean a lot. π
I totally relate to this post. I have loved the rain for as long as I can remember.
Glad to hear you can relate with the article, and that you love the rain too. π
Great article. I love rainy days. The rain does not stop me from doing anything outdoors, I have a Columbia rain jacket. I love to fish in the rain (as long as no lightning), when the Lightning cracks I head in.
Thanks Jim! π I’m happy to hear you like the rain too, and that in doesn’t prevent you from doing what you enjoy in nature. π
Thanks for the mellow review, Marko! I actually have to chip in and say I like snow maybe more than rain. Maybe because it has similar good things about it as you described for rain (can look at whirling snowflakes forever), and snow also doesn’t make you so wet and miserable if you happen to be outside π But rain is nice for sure too, just maybe my INTJ preference is considered with the practicalities of getting soaked and cold π
You are most welcome Mihails! π Thank you for sharing your thoughts about the rain, and snow too! I also love the snow! It has similar effect on me as the rain, since it gives me peace, focus, serenity and inspiration. π
Hello ! Very good article. I had a bad day at work and it always help me to read some articles about infj , I feel less alone π yes I agree with your article. My favorite seasons are fall and winter π I feel more myself wearing my favorite black coats and covering with scarfs. Hehe . Here in MontrΓ©al, winter is magical and very inspiring !
Gabi
Hi Gabi! Thank you! π I’m glad the article resonates with you, and that your favourite seasons too are autumn and winter. π
According to other places on the internet, INTJ’s love the rain the best. Overall introverts seem the biggest fans of rain, do not particularly an INFJ snowflake thing.
I would imagine there are plenty of non-intj/infj types in rainy climes such as the Pacific Northwest and the British Isles who are perfectly contented pluviophiles.
Thanks for sharing this insight Petunia! π It’s always good to hear that so many personalities love the rain too. π
As I age I am experiencing a hearing loss, and one of my biggest fears is I won’t be able to hear the rain at night. I have moved my bed next to the window, and even on the coldest, wettest nights the window is open, lol. During the day I can watch it come down, but there is nothing more comforting to me than listening to the rain at night. It will break my heart to lose that.
I’m glad the rain calms you Kathy, that it has a soothing effect on you, as well as that you are enjoying every minute of it. Don’t focus on the future, immerse yourself in that present moment when you feel the rain on your hand, and when it slowly slides down the window. π
Great post! As an introvert, INFJ and highly sensitive person, this resonated with me as I have always adored the rain as well. I find rainy or stormy weather to be calming and comforting and the sound of rain is so soothing, especially overnight.
Possibly for similar reasons, I also don’t mind hot summer days when I can be indoors enjoying the quiet hum of a fan or air conditioner.
Perhaps the more extreme types of weather are conducive to solitude as people tend to hibernate more rather than getting out and about.
Thanks Kim! Glad the article resonates with you. π I also find stormy weather to be one of the great, soothing inspirations for my mind. π

Thanks for sharing Jane! π
Hi I’m new here and this is the first article I read. It’s funny because I was just talking to someone about this very thing. Rain to me signifies life. Rain brings more green and blooms… It makes me happy. And if it rains at night I sleep great.
Hi Tezs and welcome! π Glad to hear rain makes you happy, and that it means so much to you, especially for a good night sleep. π
Thank you Marko for the warm welcome?
Thanks for the validation! As an INFJ, I’ve spent my entire life feeling completely alien, especially because I’ve always been in love with thunderstorms. I’m instantly happy upon walking outside and seeing grey skies! Of course, everyone else thinks I’m insane. It’s taken a lifetime to realize (sadly) that the rest of the world will never understand. What they view as a nuisance is pure magic to an INFJ. It’s lovely to know that so many of my “kindred” feel the same.
You are most welcome Susan! π I understand you completely, since I love a stormy day and night. Same here, people are in wonder when I say that I love the misty mornings, grey skies and rainy atmosphere. Glad you feel the same way. π
I love the rain! Living in sunny California it is not around as often as I like. Fall and winter here in Sacramento are my favorite times of year. I have very recently taken the test to find out that I am INFJ. I am 56 and I understand so much of my life now! Thank you for your article and this site. I am very new to all of this and it is so eye opening and revealing! I feel like I just learned how to read!
David
I’m happy to hear that this article helped you David, and that you love the rain! Thank you so much for your kind words and support, and you are most welcome. π
Oh My GOSH!!!! I LOVE the rain!!! Every time it rains I just want to go outside and have fun!
That’s wonderful to hear Michaela! I also have a similar feeling when I see it. π
Wow. I didn’t know that my love of rain was connected to my personality. Interesting.
Glad you found it interesting Alex. π
Most of my friends have been fascinated by how much i love the rain. Stumped really, I’d say, given that i grew up in one of the rainiest regions of the country. But every time it rains, I feel a sense of awakening in me. Moments of pure joy and contentment. No matter how disappointing a day it has been, the melody of the rain makes me feel hopeful again. The thunder and lightening act as reminders of the serenity i can find in me. My roommate is terrified of thunderstorms, but i am the happiest then. Soaking in the rain brings out the child in me that i often keep locked away. Reading what you have written alone makes me happy.
I have been in depression since the second half of last year. It gets hard some days. But you reminded me that i can be happy today. I am smiling despite how I felt till a moment ago. Thank you for that π
Your piece is truly beautiful and mesmerizing. I hope to read more of your works.
Happy Holidays, everyone! π Remain amazing and beautiful, just the way you naturally are.
Thanks for sharing this Parvathi! I’m glad to hear that you like the rain so much. π Thank you so much for your comment, really. I am deeply humbled and honored to read what you wrote here, and happy that my article made you smile. π
Happy Holidays! π
You reminded me of how I wrote a poem when I was about 13 yrs old about how soothing the rain was to me. I am looking forward to the rainy season. Thank you!
You are most welcome Marty! I’m glad my article reminded you of your cherished poem. π
Personally despite being an INFJ I don’t like the rain so much. I don’t know if this has more to do with the fact that I live in London where it rains a lot or if it’s because rain means cold which means bad asthma for me but I hate it xD. But tbh, I don’t mind watching the rain when I’m in doors and sometimes it can be calm and relaxing.
Thanks so much for sharing your view on this GhusharibChohan! That feeling of watching the rain while you are indoors really is relaxing and peaceful. π
Good morning; it`s now 04.10h and I awoke because of a painfull leg. Probably lowback pain, but nevertheless I`m always optimistic…Well, about loving the rain: it was 10 years ago when I lived in a small village. One day I returned from the city and when I arrived- it must have been in summer-it was enormously raining! There was no bus, so I started the 5km walk, just laughing and singing, feeling so happy, while others passed me less enthusiastic. Soaked and I arrived home in a crazy mood, where I changed my clothes…I never worry about the rain! My apologizes for the mistakes in my english…
I’m sorry to hear you had a lowback pain Gerard. Hope you feel better. π
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful story! I’m happy to hear you love the rain so much. π No worries, your English is great!
Yessss! I even get depressed when we’re in a drought. I crave rain. Never thought of it being part of my personality trait, just a personal preference, but it makes sense. <3
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Ashley! I adore the rain, so I fully understand you. π
Living in inland San Diego rain is a cause for celebration due to our dry climate. It also motivates me to go outside and experience the weather, like many of you quiet and peaceful environment. I especially love to swim in the rain, because, well, you just get wet! Moving in the water with the rain coming down is a double water-sense experience. Walking in the rain is a solitary experience because many feel they have to stay inside. Thanks Marko for the inspiration. Rain=celebration
I’m glad to hear rain has that motivation effect on you Linda. It looks to me you really enjoy the rain, which is wonderful! You are most welcome, thank you. π
I find the feeling in the air right before it rains magical too – everything feels alive. Such a happy thing to know I’m not the only one who feels so much about rain haha!
I couldn’t agree more with you, Sarah! You are definitely not the only one who feels this way about the rain. π
I am an only child and i have loved a rainy day, or days, ever since I was little. I was lucky enough to live in the Pacific NW for 12 years and it was my ideal climate. Overcast a lot, foggy, steady rain for days in the winter. As for not being able to do anything, you just have to make yourself go out. You end up not even really noticing it anymore, it’s just a part of life. And no one up there uses umbrellas either.
Thanks so much for sharing you love for the rain, queenbead! π
I love rain! It takes me to a far away place. And I can sit and stare for hours. Suddenly I crave a person… a dreamy person just sitting next to me and enjoying the rain as much as I do. Someone I feel safe with with no need to explain what I expect from them. Just relaxing and feeling that nothing else can beat this understanding and appreciation we both find magical. I need that!
Wonderfully said, M! Thanks for sharing that! π
hey if i may say something about the scientic side of the rain:
The rain is one of the really few things in this world that “feels” negative, almost everything around us feels positive. That way, to escape from the constantly positivity around us, the rain is amazing. Not only are infj’s linked to liking this (again, not all infjs), but also very much introverted people in general and people with anxiety and depression. It’s a great way to reload our bateries.
Also, when it rains you have to go nowhere and noone have to. You can just sit at home and enjoy a book while you hear the rain ticking on the window. An amazing feeling (in my opinion)
I’m sorry about my bad English, i’m actually dutch. Feel free to correct me!
Thank you so much for sharing this awesome scientific data about the rain! It was a pleasure reading it. π No worries, your English is great!
Hi. Great article! Thanks for inspiring me. People in my town Tokyo look at me like I’m from Mars when I say I love rain. π
You are most welcome Yuki. π Thank you for your kind words, I am humbled that my article inspired you. There is nothing wrong in loving rain, you are understood here. π
I don’t just like rain, I like storms. Rain/storms take off the world of pressure. When it is raining you aren’t expected to be out doing things. You can just be at home, relaxing, reading or whatever you do. Storms are wonderful to me because they show the power and majesty of nature – the wind and the blowing rain, the lightning crashing and the thunder rolling. Maybe because a storm makes me feel like I’m in my own world, with my own show. I don’t know, but both things I like. I, however, detest snow and bright, hot days π
Oh storm are wonderful too Katie! Love them! You’re right, they bring peace and give our mind a chance to embrace our INFJ imagination to the fullest. π
Hello INFPs!
I’m an ENTP. I love wind, rain, storm, lightning(wrsl). But fog and drizzle not quite as much.
I should qualify that, I like these things if I have the proper clothing or am behind good structures such as a roof or window. Even just a really good umbrella.
That was true from the first time I was a pure ENTP. Now I measure more as an anti-social E, and slightly more even on my T vs F. But my WRSL attitude has remained.
My theory, other than white-noise is naturally comforting to babies(and me), is that for 100,000 years of tribal warfare, when the rain starts, the fighting stops, and humans often cooperate for survival and bond over the adventure. We tend to forgive the petty when the bigger becomes an issue. That is, of course, just a guess.
Hi Ari! So wonderful to hear an ENTPs perspective on this! π Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and an really interesting example. π
I fully agree.
I have the feeling that the world stops while the rain falls.
In my day to day I feel the world pulsating, I can be at home alone or at work, it does’t stop. When it is raining I feel that the world is slowing down, I feel nature deeply, it is a unique experience.
Namaste
Wonderfully described Patricia! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. π
I experience much the same feelings of comfort ans serenity while in dark, evergreen forests in mountainous areas, as well. Rainy forests are a comfort to me.
I’m a teenager and I have always loved the rain. It just makes me happy and excited of life because this phenomen is simply unique and I love the uniqueness! I always feel at ease while raining because of the sound the raindrops make or probably because of the beautiful smell they create in the atmosphereβ fresh air, yay! I usually stay in the balcony or outside during the rain because it gives me the opportunity to clear my mind and it also gives me a lot of inspiration about writing or drawing something! Probably I sound weird but I also enjoy the sound of thunder. It makes me feel stronger and more powerful whilst it should be the opposite)
Actually, a lot of people find me really strange because I like this type of weather. However, I don’t really understand why they don’t feel the same as me because rain doesn’t mean only sadness and depression, it has many more profound significances!
Amazing blog. I love ur post, you really described amazingly about rain each and everything.
